Why Family Photos Around Your Home Build Confidence With Everyone

When people think about family photographs displayed around their home, they often think about decor first. Beautiful frames, coordinated galleries, a carefully styled wall in the hallway or above the sofa.

But the truth is, wall art does something far more powerful than simply fill an empty space!

The photographs you choose to display in your home quietly shape the way your family sees themselves every single day.

For children, especially, seeing themselves photographed, included, loved, and celebrated inside their home builds something incredibly important: belonging.

It tells them, without needing words, you matter here.

In a world where children grow up surrounded by comparison, pressure, and constant noise, family photographs become emotional anchors.

They remind children who they are, where they come from, and how deeply they are loved. And it’s not just children who feel it. Parents do too.

There’s something grounding about walking past a photograph of your family laughing or cuddled up together. In the middle of busy routines, hard days, and endless to-do lists, those images reconnect us to what matters most.

They remind us that even in the chaos, there’s connection and love!

That’s why I believe family photography should live on your walls, not hidden away on a phone camera roll.

Because when photographs are printed and displayed, they become part of your family’s everyday emotional environment.

Children absorb what surrounds them. They notice the images displayed in the hallway. They stop to look at the framed photo where they’re being held tightly by mum.

They see the picture where everyone is laughing together naturally, instead of posing perfectly.

Over time, those images become part of their inner story. They grow up seeing evidence that they were cherished and so loved. And honestly, that has a lasting impact on confidence and self-worth.

But this doesn’t stop with young children. Teenagers and parents need it too!

We all need reminders that we are loved, valued, and seen, especially in seasons of life that feel overwhelming, exhausting, or uncertain. A home filled with meaningful photographs creates warmth and emotional safety for everyone who lives there.

EASTER CRAFTS

Easter is a time of joy, renewal, and creativity, especially when shared with the little ones in our lives. Engaging in craft activities with small children not only nurtures their creativity and motor skills but also provides a wonderful opportunity to create lasting memories. As a passionate advocate for capturing life’s moments through photography, I find Easter crafts offer a treasure trove of photo opportunities to snap your family having fun being creative. You’re practically guaranteed to get big smiles and their eyes deep in concentration!

CRAFTING MEMORIES:

Easter crafts can range from simple colouring activities to more involved projects like making Easter baskets, decorating eggs, or creating bunny masks. These activities are not just about the end product; they’re about the process and the moments shared. Each dab of paint, sprinkle of glitter, and carefully placed sticker tells a story of learning, discovery, and fun. As you guide little hands through these projects, you’re not just making crafts; you’re crafting memories.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES GALORE:

Photographing your children engaged in Easter crafts offers a unique opportunity to capture their growing personalities and interests. These photos can show a range of emotions and expressions: the concentration on a child’s face as they paint an egg, the joy of getting messy with glue and glitter, and the pride in showing off their finished work. These are the candid, unguarded moments that make for precious memories and beautiful photographs. And these are the moments your family albums should be filled with.

EMBRACING THE MESS:

Easter crafts often involve materials that can get messy, but this mess is part of the charm. A photograph of a child with paint on their cheeks or hands covered in glitter can capture the essence of childhood. These are the moments of pure, uninhibited creativity that you’ll look back on fondly. The mess can always be cleaned up, but the memories will last a lifetime.

FREE EASTER THEMED COLOUR BOOK:

If you’re short on ideas or just want to have an extra activity up your sleeve this easter, I’m offering a free download of an Easter-themed colouring book. This book is filled with delightful designs that are suitable for children of all ages. You might even find the grown ups want to give it a go too! It’s a perfect activity for younger children who might not be ready for more complex crafts but still want to participate in the Easter festivities. If you would like the colouring in book, please contact me, then simply print them out on plain paper, and off you go!

CAPTURING THE COLOURING PROCESS:

Photographing children as they colour can be incredibly rewarding. There’s something magical about capturing the focus and determination on a child’s face as they choose just the right shade or carefully stay within the lines. And when the colouring is done, you have a perfect opportunity to photograph the proud artist with their work, creating a lasting keepsake of the moment.

I’d love to see your little artists at work – you can always share their wonderful creations with me by tagging me: 'Tanjilart'.

THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY:

A PHOTOGRAPHER’S PERSPECTIVE

CAPTURING THE ESSENCE OF EXPECTATION AND JOY IN MATERNITY PHOTOS

Maternity photography is more than just a series of images; it’s a profound way of capturing one of life’s most significant and transformative experiences. As a professional maternity photographer, I have the honour of documenting this incredible journey of expectation, hope, and love. In this blog, we’ll explore why maternity photography is so impactful and how it beautifully encapsulates this unique time in a woman’s life.

The Beauty of Anticipation

Pregnancy is a time of beautiful anticipation. Maternity photography captures the excitement and emotion of expecting parents, especially the mother-to-be, as they await the arrival of their child. These photos are a celebration of life, love, and the future.

A Personal and Intimate Experience

Maternity photography is deeply personal. As a photographer, I strive to create a comfortable and intimate environment where expectant mothers can feel at ease to express their joy and love. Whether it’s a serene outdoor setting or a cosy indoor space, each session is tailored to reflect the unique personality and preferences of the mother-to-be.

The Art of Maternity Photography

Professional maternity photography is an art that combines technical skill with sensitivity and creativity. Understanding how to use lighting, angles, and composition, I work to accentuate the natural beauty of pregnancy. My aim is to create portraits that are not only beautiful but also evoke the deep emotions associated with this special time.

Celebrating the Journey

Pregnancy is a journey, and maternity photos are a way to celebrate and remember this journey. They are a reminder of the strength, beauty, and resilience of women. These photos can be a source of empowerment and pride, showcasing the incredible process of bringing new life into the world. Maternity photos also capture the bond between the expecting parents and, if there are older siblings, between them and the new baby. These interactions, full of anticipation and love, are precious moments that need to be captured and cherished.

Maternity photographs are not just for the present; they are a legacy for the future. They tell a story that children will one day look back on with wonder, the story of how eagerly they were awaited and how deeply they were loved, even before they were born.

Why Choose a Professional Maternity Photographer?

As a professional maternity photographer, I bring experience, empathy, and artistic vision to each session. I understand the nuances of maternity photography and how to beautifully capture the essence of this special time. My goal is to provide expectant mothers with images that they will treasure forever. I work with you during your consultation so that I can bring to life your vision.

Maternity photography is a powerful and emotional art form. It captures a unique and fleeting moment in a woman’s life and preserves it in a way that is both beautiful and meaningful. If you’re expecting and considering maternity photography, I would be honoured to help you capture this incredible time in your life. take a look at my galleries here with more information on how to book your consultation.

Start 2026 Right - With Portraits

As the Christmas decorations start to come down, the last of the mince pies disappear, and the last of the wrapping paper finally gets to the recycling bin, there’s always that reflective lull that comes at the end of December. It’s the time of year we look back at everything that’s happened; the milestones, chaos, laughter, and start dreaming up what’s next.

And honestly? There’s no better way to kick off 2026 than by celebrating what (and who!) matters most: your family.

Because time really does fly

I know it’s a cliche, but it’s true: time absolutely whizzes by. One minute you’re wrapping up your little one’s first Christmas presents, and the next they’re telling you exactly what they want and “helping” you decorate the tree (translation: baubles clustered on one branch).

Portrait sessions are your chance to pause that whirlwind for just a moment. It’s a lovely excuse to slow down, capture your people exactly as they are right now, and create something tangible you can look back on when those chubby cheeks and gummy grins are just memories.

A fresh start, a new tradition

January often gets a bit of a bad reputation. It’s dark, chilly, and everyone’s feeling the post- Christmas slump. But what if, instead of diving into resolutions we’ll all forget by February, we started a new tradition? Yearly portrait/s could be just that.

Something positive to look forward to at the start of each year - a celebration of how your family has grown, changed, and loved through it all.

It’s not about being picture-perfect, either. The best portrait sessions are full of giggles, tickles, and real moments; the ones where you forget about posing and just enjoy being together. The kind where you can hear the laughter every time you look at the portraits.

Your home deserves a bit of love, too

Let’s be honest: once the Christmas decorations come down, our homes can feel a bit bare. Hanging new portraits on your walls is such a lovely way to bring warmth and personality back into your space.

Whether it’s a big statement piece above the sofa or a gallery wall that tells your family’s story year by year, your photos deserve to be seen and enjoyed, not hidden away on your phone.

Plus, seeing those smiling faces every day is an instant mood boost when the winter blues try to creep in.

You don’t need an excuse (but here’s a good one anyway)

You don’t need a big milestone to book a portrait photoshoot, but starting the year with something joyful, creative, and meaningful is a brilliant reason.

A session gives you a chance to reconnect, laugh, and remember that your family, just as it is right now, is more than enough.

And imagine, a year from now, looking back at your portraits from January 2026 and thinking, “That was such a special time.”

Let’s make it happen

If you’ve been meaning to get photos done “one day”, take this as your sign. Let’s make it the start of something wonderful.

Book a session for early 2026 and let’s create portraits that will warm your heart all year round.

Because time doesn’t stand still, but your images can help it slow down, just for a moment!

The Value of Continuity:

Why Choosing the Same Photographer for Every Milestone Matters

When you choose one photographer to capture your family’s journey:

From maternity to newborn, milestones, first birthdays/ cake smash, and beyond, you’re investing in so much more than just beautiful images. When you think about these moments you want to remember forever, they often follow a beautiful journey: The anticipation of pregnancy, the first days of welcoming your baby, those irresistible milestones, and the joy of celebrating a first birthday.

These are more than just sessions; they are chapters in your family's story.

Choosing the same photographer for each of these moments can make a world of difference.

Continuity Creates a Cohesive Story and Style You Love

Each photographer has a unique style and creative eye. By staying with the same photographer, you’re guaranteed a consistent look across all your images, giving you a timeless collection that flows beautifully together. Whether it’s a soft, minimalistic newborn session or a playful cake smash, your gallery will tell a cohesive story of your family’s growth.

Ease, Comfort, and Connection for the Whole Family

Familiarity makes a huge difference, especially when little ones are involved. Returning to the same photographer means you already know what to expect, they know your family’s personalities, what makes your children laugh, and how to put everyone at ease. This level of trust results in more relaxed sessions and natural, authentic photos. Parents benefit too – no need to re-explain your vision or worry about what to expect. Each session feels effortless because your photographer already understands your journey.

Professionalism and a Seamless Experience

Working with the same photographer means you’re not starting from scratch each time. A photographer who knows your family’s journey understands your preferences your family’s personalities, your comfort level in front of the camera and your vision, saving time and stress at each stage. They’ll remember your favourite angles, poses, and even the little details you might forget to mention. This relationship builds trust, making every session smoother and more enjoyable.

Savings and Smart Planning

Many photographers offer bundled packages, such as a First Year or Toddler Plan, which can be a more cost-effective way to capture multiple milestones. Booking a package upfront not only saves money but also secures your sessions ahead of time, ensuring you don’t miss those fleeting moments.

Do Your Research Before You Commit

Finding the right photographer is key. Spend some time in local Facebook groups, browse portfolios, and read reviews. Look for someone whose work resonates with you and whose style matches the vision you have for your family’s photos. This groundwork ensures you’ll feel confident about your choice and excited to build a lasting relationship.

When you invest in a photographer who grows with your family, you’re creating a legacy of memories with ease, comfort, and style all while saving time and money along the way.

A Partnership in Preserving Memories

Your photographer becomes more than a service provider – they become a storyteller and a trusted partner in preserving your family’s milestones. From that first bump photo to a frosting-covered grin at the cake smash, they’ll be there to document it all with care and consistency. If you’re considering booking upcoming sessions, think long-term. Choose a photographer who aligns with your vision and invest in a partnership that will make every milestone feel seamless, beautiful, and uniquely yours.

Why Your Photography Journey Shouldn’t Stop at One.

It’s no secret that the first year of your child’s life is a whirlwind, a blur of milestones, sleepless nights, and countless “firsts.” By the time you’ve celebrated that special first birthday and possibly marked it with a fun cake smash session, it can feel like the major moments have been captured. But here’s the thing: your little one’s journey is far from over, and their story is still being written every single day.

Children don’t stop growing and changing just because they’ve turned one. In fact, the toddler and preschool years bring some of the biggest leaps in personality, independence, and discovery. The cheeky grins, the messy curls, the determination in their eyes- these are fleeting moments, just as precious as those tiny newborn yawns. Each new stage brings traits that make your child who they are and they deserve to be remembered.

Photography during these years becomes less about documenting “firsts” and more about capturing character. Suddenly, you’re not just freezing time- you’re preserving laughter, quirks, favourite toys, and those expressions that feel so uniquely theirs. These are the photographs that will make you smile years down the track because they truly reflect who your child was in those moments.

For many parents, it’s easy to let time slip away after that first birthday. Life gets busy, and the changes can seem less dramatic than the first steps or first words. But often, these are the years when your child’s personality shines brightest- when they’re showing you who they’re becoming. These candid giggles, quiet cuddles, and tiny adventures are the memories you’ll one day long to revisit.

Booking photography sessions beyond the first year doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Many photographers, myself included, offer flexible milestone sessions that are simple, relaxed, and child-led. Whether it’s a birthday, a family update, or just “because,” these sessions create a gentle pause in your busy life to truly see and celebrate your child as they are now.

These photographs also become priceless keepsakes for your child. Imagine them flipping through an album years from now, seeing not just their first moments, but the chapters that followed- the way they loved a certain stuffed animal, the grin that came with a missing tooth, the sparkle in their eyes when they discovered something new. These are the images that tell the full story.

So, don’t pack the camera away after the first candle is blown out. Children change in the blink of an eye, and every stage deserves to be celebrated. Whether it’s their second birthday, a family picnic, or simply a Sunday morning at home, these are the moments that make up their childhood.

Ready to capture these fleeting chapters?

I offer milestone sessions and first-year-to-toddler packages designed to make documenting your child’s story easy, relaxed, and affordable. Get in touch today to chat about your options and secure a spot – because these moments are too precious to miss.

Why Your Photos Deserve a Life Beyond Instagram

We all do it. Even I’m guilty of it! I take a beautiful photo (perhaps from your recent maternity or newborn session here at TanjilArt Photography and post it straight to Instagram or Facebook. Maybe it gets some love - a few likes, heart emojis from your Auntie, a comment from your best mate saying, “Oh my goodness, that smile!” - and that’s it. It’s gone and buried under memes, ads, and a famous influencer.

But what happens after the double taps?

Here’s the thing: photos aren’t meant to live their whole lives behind glass screens. They’re meant to breathe in your home; to become part of your everyday, not just a fleeting moment online. I’ve had SO many clients tell me how their little ones stand on tiptoes to point out “baby me!” in a framed print, or how a grandparent tears up when you gift them a proper portrait, not just a screen they squint at.

It’s not just about looking pretty on the wall.

Of course, a beautiful frame or handcrafted album is lovely to look at. But there’s more to it than decor. When you print your photos, they become part of your family story in a way social media just can’t compete with.

Printed photos don’t rely on algorithms. They’re not buried in your camera roll behind 600 other pictures. They don’t get lost when your phone dies. They’re always there. Quietly holding space for your memories.

Your future self will thank you.

Imagine this: it’s 13 years from now. Your baby, the one we captured all curled up and peaceful, is now a teenager who eats you out of house and home. You’re tidying up (because miracles do happen), and you come across your family album. Instantly, you’re transported. You remember how tiny their toes were, how your partner looked at them in awe.

And that feeling? Socials can’t give you that.

Kids need to see they’re loved.

There’s actually a bit of research that shows kids who grow up seeing photos of themselves displayed around the home have better self-esteem. It tells them: “You matter. You’re part of this story. You’re loved.” And really, isn’t that what it’s all about?

So next time you have photographs taken, whether it’s your newborn’s first week, a chaotic but joy-filled family session, or your growing bump in all its glowing glory, don’t just post and forget. Print them. Frame them. And let them live in the real world with you!

Because the most meaningful photos are the ones you can hold.

Want help choosing which photos to print from your session at my Tanjil South studio? I’m always happy to guide you through albums, wall art, and keepsakes that actually fit your life (and your walls). Let’s make sure your memories don’t just disappear into the digital void.

A Beautiful Way to Celebrate Your Child

There’s something truly special about the in-between years—from preschooler to pre-teen, every stage of childhood comes with its own magic.

My White on White sessions are designed to capture that magic in its purest form, celebrating your child exactly as they are in this moment.

These sessions focus on one individual child (typically aged 3 to 12) and embrace simplicity—no clutter, no props, just a beautifully lit white backdrop that lets your little one’s personality shine through. Whether they’re bursting with energy, shy and thoughtful, or somewhere in between, I’ll capture genuine expressions and all those little details you never want to forget.

This clean and minimal look also ensures your child’s images are timeless. No trends. No distractions. Just honest, emotion-filled portraits that you’ll love as much in ten years as you do today.

White on White sessions are also perfect for creating striking wall art or keepsake albums. They’re not just photographs; they’re memories frozen in time—those toothy grins, missing front teeth, cheeky smirks or soulful eyes that tell a story all on their own.

If you’ve ever looked at your growing child and thought, “I wish I could pause this stage,” this session is for you.

Let’s capture them—beautifully, simply, wholeheartedly.

THE MAGIC OF BLACK AND WHITE NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

Hello my lovely readers! Today, we’re diving into a topic that’s close to my heart: the enchanting world of black and white newborn photography. You might wonder, “Why black and white when the world is so full of colour?” Well, let’s explore the magic that this timeless medium brings to capturing those precious first moments of life.

THE TIMELESS APPEAL

Black and white photography has a timeless quality that’s simply unmatched. It takes us back to the golden era of photography, where each image was a cherished piece of art. When it comes to newborns, this classic style adds a layer of nostalgia, making each photo a keepsake that transcends generations.

FOCUS ON EMOTION

One of the most compelling reasons to opt for black and white is its ability to highlight emotions. Without the distraction of colours, the focus shifts to the baby’s expressions, the tender touch of a parent, or the intricate details like tiny fingers and toes. These elements become the stars of the show, evoking a depth of emotion that’s hard to achieve otherwise.

THE BEAUTY OF SIMPLICITY

Black and white photography thrives on simplicity. It doesn’t require elaborate props or colourful backdrops. The absence of colour brings out the textures and contrasts, making even the simplest settings look stunning. Whether it’s the softness of a baby blanket, the texture of a knit cap, or the sheer innocence of a newborn’s face, black and white amplifies the beauty in every detail.

VERSATILITY

Black and white photos fit seamlessly into any décor. Whether you have a modern minimalist home or a cosy, traditional setting, a black and white portrait will always find its place. It’s versatile, elegant, and universally appealing.

A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

Let’s face it; newborns don’t always cooperate during photoshoots. Sometimes the skin tones are uneven, or there might be temporary newborn acne or redness. Black and white photography is forgiving. It softens the imperfections and brings out the best features, making every photo frame-worthy.

THE FINAL WORD

Black and white newborn photography is not just a stylistic choice; it’s an emotional one. It captures the essence of those fleeting moments that you’ll want to treasure forever.

I like to include a mix of black and white and colour with in my galleries. Sometimes I will take a shot knowing I will make it black and white, other times I will select images I feel are suited to it. Either way I am open to clients discussing the options.

I hope you enjoyed this exploration into the captivating world of black and white newborn photography. Until next time, keep cherishing those magical moments!

BOOSTING CONFIDENCE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN: THE POWER OF AFFIRMATION CARDS AND PORTRAITS

THE POWER OF AFFIRMATION CARDS:

As a portrait photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless moments of joy, pride, and growth. One of the most rewarding experiences is photographing children as they embark on their educational journey, whether they’re starting primary school or returning for another year. But did you know there can be a significant boost in confidence in children who are surrounded by positive affirmations and have their milestones celebrated? In this blog, I’ll delve into the transformative power of affirmation cards – I’ve even created a set of beautiful affirmation cards for you to print and use at home!

UNDERSTANDING AFFIRMATION CARDS

Affirmation cards are small, often beautifully designed cards that carry positive and empowering messages. They work on the principle of positive reinforcement. When children repeatedly read or hear positive affirmations about themselves, they begin to internalise these messages, leading to stronger self-belief and increased confidence.

For example, an affirmation card might say, “I am brave and can face any challenge,” or “I am loved and valued.” These simple yet powerful statements can counteract any negative self-talk or doubts that might creep into a young mind.

HOW TO USE AFFIRMATION CARDS

1.    Morning Ritual: Start the day by reading an affirmation card with your child. This sets a positive tone for the day ahead.

2.    Visual Reminder: Place the cards in areas where your child frequently spends time, like their playroom or bedside table.

3.    Interactive Sessions: Encourage your child to create their own affirmation cards. This not only boosts creativity but also ensures the affirmations resonate personally with them.

4.    Discussion: Talk about the meaning of each affirmation. This helps in deeper internalisation and understanding.

THE CONFIDENCE-BOOSTING POWER OF PORTRAITS

As well as affirmations, portraits can be a powerful way to boost a child’s confidence. As a family photographer, I’ve seen firsthand the magic that happens when a child sees themselves through the lens of art. A portrait is not just a photograph; it’s a celebration of individuality, growth, and potential. It’s one reason I love offering Back To School Sessions.

When these portraits are printed and displayed prominently at home, they serve as a daily reminder of a child’s worth and achievements. Every time they see their image, they’re reminded of that special day, the excitement of starting or returning to school, and the love and pride their family feels for them.

Moreover, having their portraits taken can be an event in itself. It’s an opportunity for them to dress up, feel special, and be the centre of attention. This experience can significantly boost their self-esteem.

THE POWER OF AFFIRMATION CARDS

MARKING MILESTONES WITH PORTRAIT SESSIONS:

To commemorate the significant milestone of starting or going back to school, I offer special portrait sessions. These sessions are tailored to capture the essence, personality, and spirit of each child. The resulting portraits are not just photographs but cherished memories that families can hold onto for years.

The journey of growing up is filled with challenges and self-discovery. As caregivers, educators, and loved ones, we have tools at our disposal, like affirmation cards and portraits, to ensure our children grow up with a strong sense of self-worth and confidence. Let’s use them wisely and watch our young ones flourish.

Magic in every portrait:

There’s something incredibly special about the joy and warmth of Christmas time. All the lights, cosy jumpers, and twinkling trees set the perfect backdrop for family photos. Whether it’s your baby’s first Christmas or your family's annual tradition, these mini sessions allow you to capture that festive spirit in a fun, relaxed way.

You’ll receive beautifully curated photos that reflect the magic of the festive season, from your little one’s wide-eyed wonder at the decorations to the laughter of your family all together. These images are more than just pictures; they’re lasting memories that you can look back on for years to come.

Perfect for Cards and Gifts

A Christmas mini session gives you a gallery of portraits that will make your Christmas cards even more personal and memorable. In addition, these photos make beautiful gifts for grandparents and other family members. A framed picture of your little ones dressed in their cutest festive clothes is a heartfelt gift that’ll be cherished long after the decorations come down.

They’re only available for a limited time, which makes them even more special. These exclusive sessions offer a unique opportunity to capture the joy of the season in a professional setting. With limited slots available, booking early is important to secure your preferred date and time.

Maternity Sessions:

Capturing the glow of expectancy.

Expecting a baby is one of the most magical times in a woman’s life, filled with anticipation, joy, and an unparalleled glow. Maternity photography has become a cherished way for mothers-to-be to mark this unique and special time of their lives period. Maternity sessions are rising in popularity so I thought we could take a look at the best time to book your session and give you some tips to ensure you capture the essence of pregnancy beautifully.

THE BEST TIME TO BOOK YOUR SESSION

The best time for a maternity photo shoot typically falls between 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. By this stage, your baby bump is beautifully visible, but you’re still comfortable enough to pose for the camera and enjoy your session. Scheduling your session within this window allows us to capture the most beautiful portraits for you but you can actually book your session any time from 20 weeks onwards.

WHY BOOK MATERNITY PORTRAITS?

Celebration of Motherhood: Maternity portraits are a beautiful way to celebrate the journey of motherhood. They document your body’s incredible transformation and the anticipation of welcoming a new life into your family.

A Moment in Time: Although it may seem like you’ve been pregnant forever, pregnancy is really a fleeting moment in life. Maternity portraits capture this transient phase perfectly, creating lasting memories for you and your family to cherish.

Bonding Experience: Portrait sessions often involve partners and other children, making it a bonding experience for the entire family as they prepare to welcome the newest member. These are portraits your entire family will cherish for years.

Empowerment and Confidence: Pregnancy brings about significant changes to your body, and sometimes these changes can be a little overwhelming. A professional maternity shoot can help expectant mothers feel empowered and confident in your skin, showcasing the beauty of pregnancy. So many of my clients don’t realise just how stunning they are until they see it for themselves in the portraits we create.

Customisation and Creativity: Maternity sessions offer endless possibilities for customisation and creativity, from outdoor shoots that harness the beauty of nature to themed photoshoots that reflect personal stories or interests. Together we can create a truly personal experience that uniquely reflects you.

TIPS FOR BOOKING YOUR MATERNITY SESSION

1. Plan Ahead: Given the ideal timeframe, start looking for a maternity photographer during your second trimester. This allows ample time for planning the session’s details, including location, wardrobe, and theme.

2. Consider Your Comfort: Choose a photographer who makes you feel comfortable and understands your vision for the shoot. Comfort and connection are crucial for capturing natural, beautiful portraits.

3. Discuss Ideas and Expectations: Communicate your ideas, expectations, and any concerns with your photographer. Whether you prefer a more natural setting or a studio session, your photographer can provide guidance on how to bring your vision to life.

4. Wardrobe and Accessories: Many photographers offer a selection of maternity gowns and accessories for the shoot. Discuss wardrobe options ahead of time, and consider incorporating personal items like ultrasound photos or baby shoes for a personal touch.

5. Timing is Everything: The golden hour—just after sunrise or before sunset—provides soft, flattering light perfect for location photography. Consider scheduling your session during these times for the most beautiful lighting.

6. Include Family Members: Including your partner or other children in the session can make for meaningful and heartwarming photos, capturing the excitement and love that surrounds the new arrival.
